A roof leak rarely announces itself politely. It starts as a dark stain on a ceiling, turns into a drip, then becomes a steady stream after nightfall. When wind has lifted shingles or a fallen branch has punched through the deck, every additional hour of rain forces moisture into insulation, framing, and finished rooms below. Tarping a leaky roof is the fastest temporary protection you can apply, and it works only when three decisions are correct: the material, the size, and the fastening system.
